Imagine if educational establishments equipped young people with a values foundation which could stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives, empowering them to make their own choices and decisions.
One of the benefits of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic was that people had time to reassess what was important to them. This period presented an opportunity to use our values to deepen our understanding of what matters most in our lives, our sense of self, and connecting with others for community. Subsequently, many people made smaller or larger lifestyle choices, whether this was to schedule time to attend children’s events at school, work from home or change jobs, or even stop working altogether. Living in line with our values removes ambiguity, instils confidence, improves resilience and ultimately provides a greater sense of fulfilment and happiness. What more valuable skill could young people receive?
